‘Maybe we will get married one day but who knows? Think I’ll take that thought to the grave but who knows?’ Is a lyric that plays in my head constantly. Daniel literally put his heart and soul into this album and specifically this song as it speaks to me in a way like never before. ‘Who knows’ really encapsulates the uncertainty of love which many of us fall victim too. Love isn’t always linear; its complicated, daring, scary, but most importantly its beautiful.
We struggle to give our all to love cause we fear rejection or being perceived as dumb but love is something we need to fall into without looking back. We need to believe in love just like little kids believe in Santa Claus, for it to come alive and ablaze in our hearts. It is indeed a whirlwind of emotions that entangles our very beings and engulfs our souls. Whether it is platonic or not, love infringes our every fibre. It is what makes us whole, human. Love encourages to act as fools, without any shame in sight. It is the one thing that makes us do crazy things; all nonchalance washes away when it enters the picture. That’s how love operates. It has no compass, no direction. It different for everyone, that’s what makes it special and unique.
Daniel reminds us to let our hearts take control sometimes. Overthinking kills the fantasy of love. The soft fleeting innocence of a small crush, the secret glances you look in their way to see if they are looking back at you, the dap up that you hold for a little bit too long, the jokes,the laughter and smiles that reach your eyes that linger for a bit longer. The texting that makes you over the moon and giddy all over. That sweet feeling, let it take over sometimes, it is important you do so; it is what life is for. ‘Carpe diem’ which means to seize the day and make the most of it without giving much concern to the future, is a phrase I feel we need to incorporate in our day to day lives
It isn’t a crime to be unsure but then again who knows? Give love a chance. Who knows it might be a lesson or a blessing. That’s the crazy thing about love is, we will never know until we give it a try. We are made to love and be loved.We all think about our vicarious future and what it will entail instead of just living in the moment; one step at a time. Enjoy the experience. We are all humans, we make mistakes; we step out of line but love never holds wrongs, it forgives, restores and repairs. We all need love, even if it is for a little bit :). Sometimes love comes in the shape of a lesson, a lover or an experience and it is important we acknowledge that fact to enjoy the feeling of the present.
Be the love you want others to see and experience whether its your uni friend group or the campus crush you fantasize about. Give it a chance, who knows.
